The so called “riad” hotels in typical Moroccan style are town houses in the historic city center (“medina”). In these houses, the rooms are arranged around an inner courtyard, traditionally with a garden. From the outside, the riads can hardly be distinguished from normal residences, but from the inside, they reveal a unique oriental charm. Many of the courtyards are beautifully designed, and terrace gardens offer a singular view over the rooftops of the medina. Some of the riad hotels are so luxurious that you will feel like in a dream from “One Thousand and One Nights”. In any case, staying in a riad means being in the middle of the Old Town and in walking distance to all restaurants, places of interest and highlights of the city.
