winter sports resort
Gerlos is a small resort in the heart of the ski and alpine sports area known as Zillertal Arena. At the edge of the village, and directly opposite the ski lift you’ll find this 4 star superior hotel with its 62 guestrooms. Even though it can only accommodate a relatively small number of guests, it boasts a vast range of activities and leisure facilities. The main draw is of course the surrounding alpine landscape with its far-reaching network of ski pistes, countless hiking and mountain biking trails and range of day trip options for the whole family.
The hotel’s large, really beautiful spa area boasts a range of ways for you to relax. The saunas alone are spread over 200sqm and include 5 different types including a traditional Tyrolean “Schwitzstube”. After you’ve cooled down, you can relax in the garden. Take a dip in the small swimming pool or treat yourself to a massage, wellness bath or beauty treatment.
If you’d rather get active, the Traumhotel Alpina is also the ideal choice. You can go hiking, mountain biking, walking or climbing (on your own or with a guide) as soon as you leave the hotel. In summer there are plenty of fantastic day trips you can take if you like staying active, including to the high-rope park in Gerlos that the whole family can enjoy, as well as lots of alpine lakes. In winter you’re right opposite the Isskogel cable car station which means you can get to the Zillertal ski area with its 139km of pistes and 50 ski lifts in just a few minutes. Gerlos is well set up for snowboarders with its Arena Actionpark.
The Alpina is also a great choice for both kids and their parents. There are lots of different family room types available, with two or three separate bedrooms. The most luxurious room has 100sqm of space and a beautiful traditional stove. Some of the kids’ facilities include an outdoor play area and a games room for kids and teenagers, all-day child care and even a kids’ ski school in winter.
Rooms are available on a full-board or half-board basis. In the morning the Alpina provides a delicious gourmet breakfast buffet including an organic food corner and eggs prepared to order while you wait. During the day (2pm-7pm) you can visit the wellness buffet which has a choice of salads, soups, warm dishes and bakery items. In the evening you can tuck into a multi-course gourmet menu with a good range of both regional and international options, which also cater to vegetarians and vegans. After dinner make yourself comfortable with a glass of wine or a cocktail in either of the two lounge bars. If you’re out and about during the day then you can have a delicious picnic basket made up for you.
The Traumhotel Alpina has a perfect location for hikers and skiers, just outside the quiet resort center of Gerlos, right opposite the ski lift. It’s easy to reach via the nearby main road and offers stunning views over the Schönachtal, a small valley that’s part of the Zillertal region.
