Hotel description

The Casas do Coro can be found in the small medieval town of Marialva; medieval fortifications can even be found on the town’s highest point. The whole town, the surrounding area and last but not least the hotel are a paradise for those who appreciate history and romanticism. Its 8 granite houses of variable sizes are all just as attractive as each other - each designed using modern interiors. They offer accommodation for up to 11 people depending on the house - each comes, however, with hand picked and beautiful rustic furniture.
Nature hotel: Sleepy village in the Portuguese hinterland
Excluding the residents of the hotel Casas do Coro, the peaceful town of Marialva houses barely 50 residents. At all times the area is tranquil and quiet. The view from the hotel houses spans widely in the direction of the nearby Spanish border.
Romantic Hotel: Historic ambiance and modern comfort
The village belongs to the Aldeias Históricas de Portugal (historic towns of Portugal); a consortium of 12 middle-aged villages who have set it upon themselves to maintain and protect their cultural value and architecture. With their old stone buildings, cobbled street and towering castle ruins, it is almost as though the place has come straight from the middle ages. In front of this fairytale-like backdrop, guests of the Casas do Coro can relax on a comfortable day bed by the pool, take a dip in the whirlpool or enjoy dinner by candlelight on the terrace. The ambiance of the guest rooms is just as romantic. Each has been designed with the utmost care and love by the landlady, using a mix of antique and rustic furniture. Numerous loving details such as fresh flowers, scented candles, artistic embroidery, cushions and art objects all act to create a cosy and warm environment. Additionally, almost all of the houses come with a fireplace.
Food and drink: Local produce and gourmet menus
For those who value cuisine using regional products, the Casas do Coro is perfect. The owners Paolo and Carmen are themselves passionate connoisseurs and also excellent chefs with wide-ranging knowledge about regional and international wines. In the morning, guests will find a heavenly breakfast buffet with homemade and regional delicacies on offer. Additionally guests can order hot drinks and eggs from their table. In the evening guests are offered an exquisite Portuguese specialty, either in the elegant dining room or, if the temperature permits, outdoors. Alternatively, guests will find their own kitchen in their house, or at least a communal kitchen, making self-catering possible.
Location: Small village with a long history
.The hotel finds itself in the medieval village of Marialva, near to the town of Mêda (7km). The most part of the town is occupied by lavish restored historic houses. Two small houses in a modern hut style have also been added. From its wonderful location, the hotel enjoys a dreamy view over the picturesque and rural landscape.
