This really lovely hotel is situated just outside of Monchique, a small historic mining town at the northern tip of the Algarve. It offers 10 modern rooms in the middle of a sea of oak trees, plus an idyllic garden and stunning views!

The quality of the accommodation and service at this contemporary bed and breakfast hotel is just as impressive as its location. It’s situated about 3km further up the mountain from Monchique. But the steep drive will definitely be worth it for its stunning views over the wooded slopes of Mount Foia right down to the coast. The hotel garden and in fact all around the hotel is incredibly peaceful. The house itself is a modern building made from predominantly local and ecological building materials. There are 6 double rooms, 2 suites for families and 2 self-catered studios with kitchenette to choose from. All have a private glass-enclosed balcony or terrace where you can sit on a sunlounger and enjoy the stunning view. The modern room amenities include an iPod docking station, underfloor heating, air conditioning, WiFi and a tiled bathroom.

The day starts with a delicious breakfast which has a daily changing menu. Below the house is the well-kept hotel garden - another great place to put your feet up and enjoy the view. This is also where you’ll find the solar-heated pool, large enough to swim a few short lengths.

We were particularly impressed by:

Salt-water pool in the garden. Solar power heats the water at the hotel and this is also used for the pool.
