The Storchen is the oldest hotel in Zurich and probably the one with the best location: the traditional house is located on the romantic Weinplatz, directly on the Limmat river. The Storchen Hotel has accommodated guests for more than 650 years. Grimmelshausen and Richard Wagner also gave them the honour of staying. In 1938 it was rebuilt and since then continuously updated so that it shines today with a modern style, without having lost its charm. The rooms are classically decorated with lots of white, light blue tones and beautiful wood. Some have private terraces with spectacular views of the river and the Alps. In the Storchen Suite a spacious marble bathroom with separate bath and shower awaits the guests.
Food & Beverage: veal ravioli & sustainable kitchen
The rotisserie of Storchen surprises even pampered palates with seasonal creations and culinary delights. Breakfast starts with a rich buffet which can be enjoyed in summer on the river terrace. For lunch, the kitchen serves a fine menu and in the evenings there are wonderful 4-course dinners. House specialties include veal ravioli and the Chateaubriand steak of Canadian heritage cattle. In Storchen, special emphasis is placed on sustainability, so they work together closely with farmers and fishermen from the region. You can taste it! In addition to the rotisserie, visit the boulevard café and the Barchetta for a light snack and a cappuccino. A successful day can then be topped at the Storchen bar with a refreshing cocktail to the sound of the piano.
Sports & Leisure: Swimming in the Limmat
Those who do not need Mediterranean temperatures in summer to jump into the water, can swim lengths in Limmat, whose water is pure enough to drink. The Storchen Hotel has its own jetty. Thanks to the central location, all the attractions of Zurich can be easily reached.
