The hotel itself is housed within the medieval walls of a Benedictine convent dating back to the 13th century. Both inside and out, the golden sandstone of the old building really sets the romantic tone of the hotel, as do the architectural characteristics from different periods, like the large archways, ornate frescoed ceilings, exposed wooden beams and especially the rustic vaulted cellar, which is now a spa.
