Hotel description
If you’re planning a trip to Cantabria and you’re looking for a hotel that really fits in with its surroundings, you’ll love the Palacio de Meras. Thanks to its location right on the cobbled main square with town hall and other historic buildings, this small hotel soaks up the villagey character of the center of Tineo. Guests pass through a stone arch with a glass door into elegantly decorated communal spaces, each of which still maintains large elements of their historic character. Sandstone and polished walnut parquet flooring create the backdrop for the tasteful furnishings in a classic style. Here and there genuine antiques will catch your eye, while the combination of glass and stone creates a sophisticated atmosphere. The guest rooms have an even closer connection to the surrounding area. Also with a classic, sophisticated design, they all also offer views from the first floor of the hotel through large windows over the typically green meadows of the surrounding area and the village. Other highlights that will ensure you have a wonderful stay include a hotel restaurant serving northern Spanish rustic cuisine, a wine cellar, cafeteria and, last but not least, a small, very beautiful spa.
Historic hotel: Private palace with glazed courtyard
This small palace was built in the early 16th century. It is one of the few civilian buildings of its kind from this era. The coat of arms of the first owner still graces the entrance of this wonderfully restored building. The inside of this stunning building has been beautifully appointed with contemporary amenities and modern furnishings that are sympathetic to the historic nature of the building. The interior courtyard which is surrounded by columns and covered by a glass domed roof is so beautiful that it’s a popular place to hold events.
Romantic hotel: Stylish design & excellent guest amenities
The Palacio de Meras is more than ideal for a romantic getaway. The mix of history and aristocratic lifestyle creates an atmospheric backdrop. On the first floor around the central courtyard with its impressive columns is a gallery. This is how you get to the guest rooms, which are all spotlessly clean and offer excellent amenities and stylish furnishings. If you’re after a really luxurious stay, book one of the junior suites with their trendy four-poster beds, or one of the two-story suites.
Food & drink: Breakfast à la carte & fine regional cuisine
Guests can order breakfast from the menu and are served at their table. The food at the Palacio de Meras is all about the region of Asturias and neighboring regions. If you like hearty, rustic home cooking, you’ll be in seventh heaven here. However there are also plenty of lighter options available too. Leave room for the delicious, traditional desserts like milk rice and soufflés. Other eating and drinking options include a wine bar and a cafeteria with a smart design in wood, glass and stone.
Leisure & sport: Intimate spa & mini museum
The hotel spa is the ideal place to relax throughout the day. It is not very big, but it has a very stylish design. And everything is there that you need: A swimming pool with integrated Jacuzzi, a sauna and a steam bath. A variety of massages and beauty treatments are available in the special treatment rooms. The Palacio de Meras also has a small museum for you to explore which holds a private collection of antiques.
Location: Villagey location with meadow views
The Hotel Palacio de Meras is situated right on the town hall square in the small town of Tineo in western Asturias. The rooms on the first floor offer fantastic views over the surrounding meadows and village.
