The Torralbenc is situated 12 kilometres from the coast, just outside Alaior. It’s 8m to the island capital Mahon.
Old craftwork and a trendy natural design come together at this small collection of traditional farm buildings belonging to an old winery in Menorca. Some of the 22 rooms are housed in the former residential and farm buildings of the finca. Others are in an independent stone hut in the garden or right by the pool. Each one shows off its connection to the history and lifestyle of this quiet Balearic island both in its architecture and interior design. A beautiful pool and nice little restaurant serving excellent Menorcan cuisine complete the stylish feel.
Historic hotel: Finca built on prehistoric foundations
Discoveries dating back to the Talayotic culture suggest that the roots of this small typical Menorcan farm date back to prehistoric times. The current buildings are not quite as old, but still date from the 19th and early 20th centuries. Surrounded by palm trees and fig trees, the white-washed farmhouses are perched on a hill offering wonderful views. The surrounding area is dominated by agriculture, and known for its wine and cheese production. A chic rustic design in bright natural colors bridges the gap between the past and the present, offering all the comforts of a modern-day hotel. Budding historians will also love the old farm chapel and can take a look at a collection of prehistoric finds in the rooms.
Design hotel: Mediterranean natural design
The impressive interior design is stylish and completely in tune with its architectural backdrop and the surrounding area. Wood, stone and cotton in bright white and sand tones dominate the look. Avant-garde furniture styles go hand in hand with the old handicraft work. Clean, contemporary lines balance the natural materials while light, pastel colors create a bright, laid-back yet sophisticated atmosphere. The highlight of each room (both to look at and use!) is the chic bathroom in a style completely personal to the hotel and with a large glass-wall rain shower.
Food & drink: Rustic feel & secret family recipes
The hotel restaurant Torralbenc is housed in a quaint old grape and wine barrel store made of stone. It serves traditional Menorcan cuisine including some recipes that have already been passed down through many generations of the same family. The base ingredients are sourced directly from local farms.
Leisure & sport: Days by the pool and trips to the beach
In the outdoor area of the hotel you’ll find a well-maintained salt water pool. Guests can relax here on sunloungers shaded by umbrellas and enjoy the complete peace and quiet. With a size of 25x7m, the pool is also ideal for doing a few lengths in the morning or evening sun. If you prefer the sea you can reach several beaches within a few minutes by car or by bike. For example, Son Bou beach (14km).
