This hotel at the edge of the Palatinate Forest is the perfect choice for a romantic getaway with the feel of a real castle. It is situated right on the German Wine Route in the region of Palatinate. With its mild climate and long history of wine production, the area is also known as the Tuscany of Germany. Castle hotel: Medieval flair & outdoor stage
The stunning Edesheim castle is surrounded by more than 5 hectares of parkland with vineyards, ancient trees and manicured gardens. Its roots date back to the 8th century, and its open-air theater is a totally unique feature, built over the castle’s moat which still today is filled with water. It hosts the annual castle festival and regular murder mystery dinners.
Romantic: Comfortable rooms and delicious food
The hotel is just as romantic on the inside as it is from the outside. The rooms are really comfortable and have been furnished in a Tuscan-inspired style. Polished wood furniture and warm colors like yellow, orange and deep red make for a bright, cheery and cozy atmosphere. All the rooms have a marble bathroom. The perfect way to round off the day is with a romantic dinner in the historic restaurant.
Gourmet: Mediterranean gourmet cuisine & Palatine wines
The castle kitchen specializes in fine Mediterranean cuisine. From Tuesdays to Saturdays you can choose from the gourmet menu that changes each month. The gourmet menu card is not on offer Sundays and Mondays but you can still enjoy seasonal changing dishes accompanied by a wide range of local wines (including some from Edesheimer) as well as Italian varieties from the castle’s cellars. Meals are served in a dining room which has been lovingly decorated with the utmost attention to detail, and features armory, antique furniture, lead crystal chandeliers and an impressive fireplace. Even the silver candlestick holders, cutlery and crockery all help to conjure up the wonderfully historic atmosphere here.
Food & drink: Good breakfast & idyllic restaurant terrace
A delicious buffet breakfast is laid out for guests in the Mediterranean-style breakfast room. When the weather is nice you can enjoy your breakfast or dinner outside on the quiet park terrace.
Leisure & sports: Wine tours and open-air stage
The hotel has a sauna and offers massages in your room on request. The focus is on relaxing in the castle gardens and taking trips out on a bike (provided on request) or by car. Wine tastings and winery visits can be arranged for budding wine connoisseurs. Don’t leave without catching some of the summertime castle festival which offers a diverse music and theater program, or the dinners with murder mystery-themed theater that take place regularly.
