The 4 star Hotel Elephant is situated in the Italian town of Bressanone in Trentino - South Tyrol, Italy. The little town of Bressanone lies in the foothills of the Dolomites, around 60 km south of Innsbruck and 40 km north of Bolzano.

The history of the Hotel Elephant
The name of the Hotel Elephant in South Tyrol refers back to an exciting story from 1550. At the order of Archduke Maximilian of Austria, today’s 4 star hotel was home to an Indian elephant for two weeks – a present from King John III from Portugal to Emperor Ferdinand. Ever since, the historical hotel in South Tyrol has held this memorable name. Even today the visit of the exotic legendary animal is still documented on the outer wall of the Hotel Elephant by a mural from this period.
