Fantastically renovated and painted in the traditional snow white, the former governor’s mansion in the star shaped fortress with its romantic chapel forms the centerpiece of the Forte de São João da Barra. Here, you can find a lounge, the breakfast room and a few of the guestrooms. The owners live on the upper floor. Other rooms of the bed & breakfast hotel in the Algarve are found in the former gunpowder store, in the old stables or in the soldier’s quarters. The terrace with the view over the fortress walls is absolutely fabulous. You can lie back here and watch the tide come and go, count the stars or watch the romantic sunset.
