At first the Duomo Hotel was just a hazy dream. It was a place shrouded in mystery, removed from time and space, suspended between reality and fantasy. But at the same time paradoxically anchored to solid foundations: tied to the city, to its history and also an integral part of the life of Rimini, a focal point for a unique nightlife in constant change. Thinking back to the dream, to how we would have wanted the Duomo Hotel to become, we were sure that we wanted something that embraced the past but looked to the future, something different, something international that reflected our need for dynamism, design, creativity on one hand while on the other could also be a place to unwind, meet people and conduct business.
Ron Arad came up with an intriguing visual provocation that plays with spatial perception giving a new look to the original facade by covering it with a new skin to create continuity between the city and the interior. He designed an entrance that frames the perspective on the reception, making it the focal point of the hotel. A piece that looks like it comes from a distant planet, a huge glowing ring that is partly suspended in mid-air and partly resting on the top of a column, of which the interior is a warm, passionate color. The rooms have soft, round lines, in which the possibility to see and communicate with the outside is directly proportionate to the desire to hide or be seen, playing with day and night in a movement of light and shadow that recalls the idea of an infinite space.

By day the Duomo Hotel is somewhere to relax or the perfect place to hold a meeting where you can communicate using the business center which includes rooms for meetings, seminars and presentations.

By night the Duomo Hotel becomes a focal point for people who want to have fun and listen to music. The hotel bedrooms are uniquely designed in such a way that individually formed bathroom pods form the backdrop to the sleeping area.Each pod is a wet room with a teak slatted timber floor and has a large circular glazed window which lets natural light into the space, the exterior of which forms the bed head.
Through a careful choice of materials and attention to detail from the door handles to custom designed furniture the hotel combines to create an unconventional and exciting design.


The living spaces
All the rooms are a delight for the eyes, in which nothing looks as it is supposed to in a conventional way of thinking. The private spaces are subdivided in such a way that sleeping spaces and bathrooms are on equal footing. The wet room have been modularly integrated into the centre of the rooms. Large, round windows fill them with a lot of natural light and form the backdrop of the sleeping area. The private rooms have been conceived to provide a space in which to sleep well, to freshen up or take a relaxing bath. Other rooms, such as the noMi Club & Bar, are designed for guests to hang out and spend their time. Communication and open spaces are part of the concept at the Design Hotel duoMo.
