Sardinia – Spa Hotels

by Sonja Franke December 11, 2009, 10:21 am

Wellness – this concept was already of importance in Sardinia, before this term found entry into our every day vocabulary. So it is no surprise that an abundance of Sardinia spa hotels can be found on this Mediterranean island, inviting in different locations and price ranges to linger.

For example, the Petra Segreta Resort & Spa Hotel San Pantaleo presents itself luxuriously. This classic country house is situated amidst a forest in a high altitude valley. It is a prime location because on the one hand the hotel can be quickly reached from Olbia, on the other hand, it offers stunning views on the Gulf of Arzachena and the islands of Caprera and Maddalena. With a little luck and good weather you can even see the island of Corsica, which already belongs to France. The interior of the hotel gives fully justice to a 4 star rating: swimming pool, Turkish bath, sauna and whirlpool are mandatory. So, too, is the offer of herbal baths, facial masks from its in-house product line and Japanese shiatsu massages.

If you prefer it a little more rural, you will get your money’s worth in Hotel Nuraghe Arvu Resort in Cala Gonone. The compound is located on the east coast and is just 500 meters away from the beach. Mediterranean ambience dominates here, which is reflected in both architecture and atmosphere. And even though only a few of the classic Spa facilities are offered at this resort: the rural nature already promises sufficient recreation.

Finally, the Hotel Relais Fenicottero Rosa in Porto San Paolo, also not a spa hotel in the classical sense. But its location in an enchanting garden and the walking distance to the beach already appeal as a balm for the soul. Sure, there is also a large and inviting swimming pool and the hotel’s own restaurant entertains with genuine Sardinian food. A real “spa hotel”.

Sardinia hotels: the best places

by Gesa Noormann June 24, 2009, 5:16 pm

Insular vacation differs from a continental one as much as an Alpine resort would from a coastal hotel. Though this difference doesn’t lie in setting, but in those impressions you receive from the holiday. For those willing to experience a great stay on an island, enjoying warm climate, beautiful surroundings and top quality service, Sardinia would be a fabulous choice.

Escapio has a fine selection of great Sardinia hotels to fit any taste. They are all different, yet possessing one common feature – superior standards. Sardinia lives from tourism, so this beautiful island and its hotels will never cause your disappointment. They might be situated in Cagliari (a great place for design lovers is the T Hotel), in small villages or simply on their own (a great spa hideaway is the Petra Segreta between Olbia and La Maddalena), in picturesque locations (like Jaspe Hotel) – the choice is yours, whether to join the lively beat of the city or to indulge into the streaming serenity of nature.

Treat yourself to the very best that Sardinia hoteliers have to offer, and then discover this hospitable island for yourself – its numerous beaches, striking views and pretty corners of untouched wild are waiting, as well as architectural gems of Cagliari, Sassari, Oristano and other beautiful and ancient cities.

Sardinia is a unique corner of Italy, surrounded by azure caressing sea, unique in its solitary location, boasting very peculiar culture and landscapes to be seen nowhere else. All this is worth at least one visit – one short stay for a lifetime of pleasant memories.

Spa Hotels Spain

by Gesa Noormann June 17, 2009, 4:52 pm

Is there anything more revitalizing and enjoyable than a coastal vacation in a country with warm climate, hospitable people and never-ending celebrations? Speaking of which, Spain is indeed a desired place for all sea-lovers and other people, keen on the opportunity to sunbathe and swim all day long. Though this image is pretty much a stereotype, there is more truth to it than it seems. To make your rest even more healthy and refreshing, Escapio team would like to offer you a great selection of spa hotels in Spain.

Although they are located in every significant city of this fabulous country, Madrid, Majorca and the province of Andalusia are the most famous destinations to mention when it comes to Spain spa hotels. Of course, there are many more, it is enough to only take a quick look. Pricing differs a great deal, yet you are bound to find something affordable for yourself. What are these spa hotels like in Spain? In a nutshell, these are superior places to stay at which do much good for your health – they boast individual programs, healthy nutrition and a great number of bonuses and facilities to make your visit worthwhile and your physical condition better. Besides, there is still much to do beyond the hotel – Spain can be rather varied in impressions and sights, as it is not only European, but also oriental: a “cocktail” of whatever you find appealing in these two cultures, worth trying at least once in your life.

Italy: Spa hotels for a healthy holiday

by Gesa Noormann June 3, 2009, 2:15 pm

When it comes to destinations and places of interest, Italycan be called a rather controversial country – in a good sense of word. There you may come buy idyllic rural landscapes together with architectural beauty of its ancient cities, indulge into seaside vacation and venture into the Apennines for fresh mountain air. There is apparently no better place for a superb and healthy vacation. The former is assured by numerous cultural, natural and historical riches, whereas the latter is quite affordable thanks to many spa hotels in Italy that possess great healthcare and beauty facilities, enough to persuade you that sometimes “wellness” isn’t connected with being well-off financially, but physically and mentally.
The undeniable champion in the nomination  is Tuscany, one of the most attractive regions for travelers. Who would refuse to improve their health in Siena in the luxury hotel Borgo la Bagnaia or in the Adler Thermae Spa Resort with its healing waters in the heart of Tuscany? If you would like to explore the capital, Rome also boasts splendid and classy spa hotels.
They are all different, as are Italian cities and provinces – in design, in pricing, in facilities, – yet these hotels always possess a certain “hooker” that makes them worth your consideration, otherwise they wouldn’t have ended up in Escapio’s catalogue. We have brought together the finest samples of tourists’ havens that will gladly embrace you as a guest and a friend. Beyond doubt, discovering Italy is one of the most pleasant activities to devote your holiday to, especially in one of Italy’s top spa hotels!

Hotel spy: Arosea Life Balance Hotel in St.Walburg, South Tyrol

by Nathalie Kopsa April 22, 2009, 1:37 pm

The path to inner peace leads us from St Walburg to Val d’Ultimo (Ultental) and the Arosea Life Balance Hotel. With its modern architecture, the four star superior hotel with view over the Zoggler Stausee lake is refreshingly different from the region’s typical style. Receptionist Monika welcomes us, checks us in and shows us to our room. A waft of pine wood greets us as we enter the room – the authentic smell of a room completely furnished with the local material.

Arosea Life Balance HotelBedroom

The 36 sqm room is generously proportioned and equipped with flatscreen TV, internet connection and all the other mod cons. A roomy walk-in wardrobe is an extra treat. From the second floor balcony there is a fabulous mountain view. The interior design concept is uncomplicated and unembellished. Wood, wool and green slate feature throughout the hotel and were picked by the young owners, hotel consultants Thomas Gertgrasser and Anne Stauder, who adopted the hotel as their own project. Both were born in South Tyrol and are more than familiar with the tourism demands of the area and have used many regional products like the wood and sheeps wool from Ultental. These materials arent only decorative but alo plaz fundamental roles in the spa treatments – like the sheep wool bath (read on…).

Restaurant with lake views

The ingredients for the “life balance” cookery – served with the half board option – are inspired by ecology, the region, and the hotel’s own garden. Much value is placed on seasonal and fresh ingredients, and flavour enhancers and preservatives are avoided.

PoolHammocks

The spa is quiet with an impressive choice of relaxation zones. We loved chilling out lying back in the sheep wool covered wooden hammocks. The beauty area offers just as much choice, and stays peaceful even when guests return from the ski pistes in the afternoon. In the “rosarium” there is a stone bath, in which Kaiserin “Sissi” is said to have bathed. In the 19th and early 20th centuries many famous people visited this area including Bismarck and Thomas Mann, who finished writing Buddenbrooks here.

Sheep wool bathThe Sissi bath” width=

The sheep wool bath is invigorated with dried fruits and special water. I gave into the concept on my second day, my curiosity irresistible after hearing Arosea is the only hotel to offer this treatment. I lay down on a type of waterbed, covered with layers of sheeps wool and was sprinkled with various mountain herbs. Cosmetic expert Jana wraps me up in wool and covers me up with a synthetic sheet to keep in the heat. I wait 30 minutes, during which I was surprised I didn’t break into a sweat being wrapped up in 40 degree wool. Later I learn the temperature regulating effect is down to the sheep wool – warms in the cold and cools in the heat. The sheep wool bath is supposed to strengthen the immune system and have a positive effect on psoriasis. It was also fantastic après ski relaxation. The wool is from “Kräuterreich Wegleit” in St. Walburg, where the hotel also organises trips for guests to buy herbal teas, honey and natural cosmetics.

So all in all, the “Arosea” hotel is a modern, alpine lifestyle hotel for guests intent on spending their holidays relaxing and enjoying themselves. There are loads of sports and tourist sights in Ultental which has long been a favourite skiing resort and summer hiking location.
