Canary Islands – Tenerife Beach Hotels

by Sonja Franke December 21, 2009, 12:02 pm

Tenerife beach hotels are one of a kind due to the islands wonderful beaches. But the beach in the island’s capital Santa Cruz is still unique within the island. So why is that? Plain and simple because of the sand, which is as white as snow here and originated from the Sahara. Right here is the location of Hotel Silken Atlántida Santa Cruz, a seemingly futuristic building right in downtown Santa Cruz. Here you are literally floating above the roofs and the roofgarden offers a magnificent view on the sea, the city and on the island’s scenery. Of course that’s not the only thing the hotel has to offer. Committed to its four stars, travellers can look forward to a fitness center, jacuzzis, a sauna and a solarium. The service is first-class in all areas and the hotel’s own restaurant also attracts gourmets who are not residing here.

Apropos first-class: this attribute hardly applies to any other Tenerife beach hotel as much as to Hotel Botanico and the Oriental Spa Garden in Puerto de la Cruz. This 5-star luxury hotel imbeds itself harmoniously in a 25,000-square-meter park and is located amidst an elegant residential area. It is no surprise that this is one of the best addresses on the Canary Islands, as also the facilities leave nothing to be desired: numerous saunas, several heated pools which are located both inside and outside, as well as whirlpools and a Turkish bath are just some of the goodies which suggest a stay in this luxury abode. In addition, it is the location, as both the busy downtown of Puerto de la Cruz and the nearby beach can be reached by the free shuttle bus within a few minutes.

Finally, Hotel San Roque. It is located in Garachico, and is a modern building all through. And this creates room for features such as the sun deck on the roofgarden and the pool which is housed there. Whoever is relaxing here, can look forward to an unobstructed view on the city and the coast. Also La Torre (English: the tower) offers a magnificent view. But that’s not all, the rooms also are a real eyecatcher. Each of the 20 rooms has been individually furnished with a lot of passion for detail and, in addition to designer furniture some rooms even come up with hydromassage baths. Truly an experience.

Canary Islands – Tenerife Hotels

by Christin Papenfuss December 17, 2009, 11:38 am

Anyone who believes that the Canarian island of Tenerife has nothing to offer except beach is more than wrong. Especially in the interior unique nature and lots of recreation is waiting for the travellers, and this usually at really affordable prices. A good example is Hotel Rural El Patio in Garachico. This town is located in the northwest of the island and the building has been constructed as early as in 1565. But don’t worry: the amenities quite correspond with the present times. This house has already been declared as a cultural heritage by the government of the island and it is situated amidst a banana plantation of roughly 60 hectares. For recreation the heated pool, as well as the sauna are available. If you prefer to do sports you will get your money’s worth on the tennis court or in the golf course near the hotel. Tenerife somewhat differently.

We remain in Garachico, but are moving towards the center of this small town. There, Hotel La Quinta Roja has its doors open. The building is almost as old as the Rural El Patio and likewise dates from the 16th century. The architecture is entirely in Baroque style and contains 20 cosy rooms. Despite its rural furnishing which perfectly fits in the style of the surrounding, all technical amenities are available and of course the hotel also holds its own restaurant, a small gift shop as well as its own – although small – spa area. Originally this house was the seat of the Marquis of Quinta Roja and one can be almost certain that he would be delighted with the present-day usage.

We leave Garachico and drive to the north of the island. There, namely in La Villa de La Orotava, the Alhambra is to be found. Of course, we are not talking about the famous building from the Moorish times but about the eponymous Hotel Alhambra. However, the name was chosen cautiously, because this small Tenerife hotel with its five rooms also shows obvious traces of Arab architecture. A true gem awaits its guests: a view on the nearby valley, the sea, as well as on Mount Teide. The small garden is cosy and a casual and informal atmosphere prevails, as in the rest of the hotel. Familial bed & breakfast with distinctive romantic traits.
